As an academician, I started my career with the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJ&K) in 1998 as a lecturer, and currently I am serving at the Department of Computer Sciences, Faculty of Computing &IT, University of Jeddah as a Professor During my 19 years University service, I have been heavily involved in teaching, research and curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have published 03 books and 40+ research articles.

Beside my academic duties and research, I have also performed various administrative duties including headship of the Department, Advisor SR&D, HEC focal person for Indigenous on Campus trainings, HEC focal person for anti-plagiarism services etc.

As a mentor, I focus on student learning and follow adjustable teaching strategies to match the abilities, preexistent knowledge and depth of understanding for individual student. Computer Science is an applied field and vital part of its curriculum focuses on understanding of different problem solving strategies and developing programming skills in various programming languages. As an instructor, I strive to instill the students the power of viewing the computer science as a problem solving field, techniques to decompose complex problem in simpler ones and application of these problem solving strategies in real life and various application domains. As a teacher I feel it is my obligation to determine the specific course outcomes and facilitate my students to reach that level.

My core research expertise are in biomedical information systems and my focused area of research is biomedical signal processing. With the development of fast computation devices and techniques, the field of biomedical signal processing is rapidly growing research area in AI and I have expertise in analyzing the complex biological signals such as heart rate signals, stride interval signal of human gait and EEG signals. The research that I have conducted during my PhD was based on the methodological approaches for quantifying the nonlinear dynamics of heart rate variability (HRV) and stride rate variability (SRV) signals. I have developed two nonlinear measures “Threshold Based Acceleration Change Index (TACI)” and Symbolic entropy measure “Normalized Corrected Shannon Entropy (NCSE)” for quantifying the dynamics of HRV and SRV signals of healthy and pathological subjects. Both of these measures have been published in the international impact factor journals. During my Post Doc at the Bio-Engineering Lab, University of Leicester U.K., I have carried out research work to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease in growth restricted children in later life by performing HRV analysis. The findings of this research work have been published as three research publication in the international impact factor journals. I have supervised more than 50 database and Scientific Projects to undergrad students. Two PhD and ten MPhil scholar completed their degrees under my supervision. Currently, I am supervising 05 MPhil and 05 PhD scholars, who are working to explore dynamics of physiological signals using various complexity analysis techniques. My future research directions will be to develop nonlinear time series analysis techniques for quantification and predictions of electrophysiological signals dynamics.
